Former city clerk Linda Jones began her new position as city manager Monday.

OSAGE CITY—Osage City has a new city manager who looks a lot like the former city clerk. That’s because the Osage City Council voted last week to offer a contract for the city manager position to Linda Jones, who has served as city clerk for 17 years.

Jones’ employment as city manager came after the city council discontinued its search last month for a replacement for former city manager Nick Hernandez, who resigned in July. Giving no reason at its Jan. 10 meeting for cancelling the search, the council’s action also cancelled a contract with The Austin Peters Group, Inc. to conduct a candidate search.
