Osage City eighth-grader Kailyn Robert spells “fedora” to win the county spelling bee Feb. 16 at Lyndon High School.
LYNDON—Osage City eighth-grader Kailyn Robert clinched the top spot Thursday morning at the Osage County Spelling Bee, held in the Lyndon High School gym.
“I had a list and spelled all the words a few times,” Kailyn said shortly after winning the first county bee she’s competed in. “I was a little nervous.”
During the half-hour competition between 12 of the county’s best spellers, Kailyn didn’t miss a word, correctly spelling “elegant,” “allocation,” “allergenic,” “siege,” “ecosystem,” “exaggerate” and “fedora.”
