Wilderness Weekend results

Winners of the first Burlingame Wilderness Weekend car show, held June 19, were: B. Johnson, first; Mary Treinen, second; and Mike Roberts, third. Winners on June 20 were: Jermaine Robison, first; Bill Coursen, second; and Lori Kline, third.

Bradley and Mary Atchison won the contest, “Guess the weight of the tree,” with a guess of 7,000 pounds. The actual weight was 7,360 pounds.
The Burlingame City Pool held a Wilderness Water Log Joust tournament, where children used their balancing skills on inflatable logs with jousting sticks. Participants managed to stay on long enough to declare Devin Davis, Wichita, the winner.

The little duck race, with 185 ducks entered, was enjoyed by all ages. Ducks were dumped into the five-foot swim area at the pool, and people lined the side of the pool, with their feet in the water. They kicked the water to help move the ducks along. Duck No. 93 crossed the finish line first. The duck was sold to Sue Cunningham, Burlingame, and she won $50.
Danielle Greenwood was the “top duck” for selling the a total of 31 ducks. She received $20. Amanda Griffin was the runner up for selling 20 ducks. She won $10.

The free swim brought many people to the pool.

The car show was sponsored by Santa Fe Café, with assistance from Richard and Janette Swartz.
