Lyndon woman killed in rollover

A Lyndon woman was killed Tuesday afternoon near Melvern Lake in a one-vehicle accident.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, Peggy Lee Peterson, 55, of Lyndon, was driving a 1998 GMC Jimmy east on Kansas Highway 278 mile marker 2.9, 532 feet west of U.S. 75. At around 4:54 p.m., her vehicle left the roadway for an undetermined reason. Peterson was trying to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway when she lost control, rolling her SUV four times before the vehicle came to rest on its wheels.

Radio traffic at the time of the incident indicated Peterson was ejected from the vehicle. The KHP report stated she was not wearing her seat belt.

Peterson was pronounced at the scene and taken to the Shawnee County Coroners office.
