Area schools make the grade for honoring vets
Six Osage County schools brought real-world education into the
classroom with assemblies, celebrations and meals in honor of
Veterans Day Tuesday. Students had a chance to learn from and
spend time with veterans, giving them each a chance to share their
story. Above, veterans listen and react to the stories of Gale
Beal, interviewer for Veterans History Project, who told stories
of veterans from each of the four branches of service, including
Osage City POW Harold Lusk. Clyde Jackson, Osage City, receives
a hug from great neice Faith Long in the cafeteria after Tuesday
morning’s presentation. In addition to hugs, veterans recieved
cards and greetings from the children.
