First-grade winners from the Fire Safety Week poster contest were picked up and delivered to school in the Osage County First Dist. No. 2 Engine 252 pumper truck, with lights and sirens blaring. Each student also recieved an honorary firman’s badge. Above, first-grader Caden Reed rides in the back seat with headset and seatbelt on. Caden rode Tuesday with Susannah Rickel and Mollie Sage.

Fire truck rides to school were to continue Wednesday through Monday with the second- through fifth-grade winners each receiving their turn. Other contest winners were second-graders Aliks Serna, Coleton Mitchell amd Riley Rowe; third-graders Ean Couch, McKenna Hallgren and Brianna Jones; fourth-graders Paris Virgil and Shelby Davidson; and fifth-graders Quinn Boyce and Riley Schubert.

Posters are currently displayed in several Osage City businesses, including The Herald-Chonicle.
