The Harveyville United Methodist Church returns to form in place of the former church, destroyed by an early-season Tornado Feb. 28, 2012. The rebuilt church is expected to reopen in May.

Harveyville marked the anniversary of the EF-2 Tornado which cause considerable damage and caused one death at a community dinner and presentation Feb. 28 at Wabaunsee County Fire District No. 3, Harveyville, firehouse.

Community members and various responders from the area gathered for the Red Cross sponsored event, which included a chili feed and information on storm preparation. The event also provided the opportunity for victims, neighbors and responders to share stories about the tornado and cleanup.
