Carbondale Fall Celebration this weekend

Event organizers for the Carbondale Fall Celebration are ready for the annual event and welcome the public to family fun Sept. 10 and 11.

Activities begin at 5 p.m. Friday, with arts and crafts and food venders. The Carbondale Library will host a book sale 5-8 p.m. Darren and Randy “Live” will entertain during a street dance 7:30 to 10 p.m.

The fun continues on Saturday, with a 7 a.m. breakfast at the community center, hosted by the ELM Foundation. The library will continue its book sale 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The public may enter a photo contest at the community center and a pie contest, sponsored by the Masons. Enjoy the arts and crafts vendors all day, and a variety of food vendors.

The children’s parade begins at 11 a.m., followed by the demolition derby at noon in city park. From 2-4 p.m. Gospel music by local church groups can be heard from 2 to 4 p.m. downtown.

Join everyone at 5 p.m. for the grand parade, followed by entertainment by the band Beer Money. They will perform during a street dance beginning at 7:30 p.m., which concludes at 10:30 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Carbondale Lions Club.
