Around 300 walkers and runners gathered in downtown Osage City to help battle cancer.

The “Life Your Life” 5K Run/Walk was organized by family and friends to defray medical expenses for the family of Dena Bartee, who is battling cancer.

Prior to the walk, Karen Olson, a mid-level provider with the St. Francis Comprehensive Cancer Center where Bartee receives treatment, spoke on her condition, and her positive outlook on life. Suellen Wood of the First Presbyterian Church of Osage City gave the prayer following the speech.
The walk/run and the associated drawing raised more than $10,000 for the cause.
