Parade winners announced


Despite a soggy Saturday evening, the Overbrook Osage County Fair parade was deemed a success by organizers. The parade was enhanced with an appearance by the First Couple, portrayed by Peter Mungai and Patricia Williams, who rode in a black limousine surrounded by four secret service agents, Levi Davis, Martin Buchmeier, Bryan Averill and Kirby Wechsler, along with a surprise appearance by Sarah Palin, portrayed by Crystal Voth.

Friday night winners of best entertainment prizes were: Santa Fe Trail High School Band, first, $500; Overbrook Red Hatters, second, $300; and Overbrook Rotary Club, third, $100. Saturday night winners with the same prizes were: Brookside Retirement Community’s First Couple and secret service agents, first; Overbrook TOPS, second; Santa Fe Trail High School Band, third.

Parade float winners were: Realistic category, Overbrook TOPS, first, Brookside Retirement Community, second, Overbrook Methodist Church, third, and Back Yard Bait, fourth; comic category, Overbrook Red Hatters, first, Overbrook Rotary Club, second, Overbrook Mad Hatters, third; beautiful category, Fidelis, first, Searchlight, second; 4-H category, North Osage County, first; mini-float, Merlin’s Brookmobile, first. Honorable mention went to the “Pooper Scoopers.”
