Melvern
man killed in motorcycle accident
A Melvern man was killed Sunday morning in a motorcycle accident
near Cassoday.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, James R. Lacey, 63,
Melvern was driving a 1984 Honda southbound on a curve on state
Highway 177, when the motorcycle left the west side of the road,
struck a sign post and overturned. The accident happened about 10:24
a.m. Aug. 2, one mile north of Cassoday in Butler County. Lacey,
who was not wearing a helmet, was killed.
A passenger on the motorcycle, Joyce Lacey, 62, Melvern, was injured
in the accident and listed as disabled on the KHP report. She was
transported to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was wearing a
helmet.
