SCRANTON—The city of Scranton will hold its annual community
celebration this weekend at Saturday in the Park.
The festivities begin the night before, with craft and vendor booths,
sports tournaments and barbecue at 5 p.m. Friday in Jones Park.
The day-long festivities start at from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday with
a biscuit and gravy breakfast in the community building. Craft vendors
reopen at 9 along with the parade line up at Scranton Attendance
Center.
The parade will run down Brownie Street at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed
by lunch in the community building at 11.
Park activities continue at noon with blow up rides and games. All-day
passes can be purchased for $5 per person or $20 per family.
Games and contests include the turtle race at 1, water balloon toss
at 2 and the bicycle rodeo at 3. At 4 p.m., the Mr. and Mrs. Saturday
in the Park contest will begin.
Supper in the Park will be served at 5 p.m. followed by karaoke
at 6 and an ice cream social at 7. The night will end with fireworks
at 10. |
