Becky Reeves | Special to the Herald-Chronicle
LEBO—Osage County Sheriff’s Officers identified Cassandra
Morgan, 18, Osage City, as the sole fatality in a grain truck accident
that occurred at 12:25 a.m. Sunday at 333rd and Hoch Road, approximately
three miles north of Lebo.
According to a press release issued by Osage County Sheriff Laurie
Dunn, Morgan was northbound on Hoch Road in a 1966 International
grain truck carrying a half load of soybeans when the truck hit
a guardrail. Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene. The release
also stated alcohol was possibly a factor in the accident.
The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Coffey County Sheriff’s
Office, which is investigating the theft of the grain truck. Coffey
County Sheriff Randy Rogers said the truck was stolen from a farm
just north of Lebo.
Authorities ask that anyone with information about the theft or
Morgan’s whereabouts prior to the accident to call the Osage
County Sheriff’s Office at (785) 828-3121 or Crimestoppers
at (877) OS-CRIME.
A fund to help pay for funeral expenses has been set up for Morgan’s
family through Landmark National Bank, in Osage City. |
