Saddle
up for Rodeo Days
Burlingame Saddle Club will present the 39th annual Santa Fe Trail
Rodeo this weekend and Rodeo Days will be held in downtown Burlingame
on Saturday.
Rodeo Days begin at 8 a.m.-11 a.m. with the 4-H petting zoo and
children’s activities. From 9 a.m.-5 p.m. the art show will
be open to the public.
The Burlingame Community Library Friends will host the annual book
and ice cream sale 10 a.m. May 16. The preview book sale will be
1-5 p.m. May 14 and May 15. The books will be slightly higher priced
during the preview sale but there will be a better selection. Some
of the large print books are of almost new quality.
Friends of the library are making homemade ice cream. There will
be vanilla, brown bread, chocolate, German chocolate, lemon and
orange sherbet, and some sugar free flavors. Ice cream will be $1
a cup.
The day continues with the rodeo parade at 11 a.m. in downtown.
At 12 p.m., Jandi’s School of Dance will perform and at 12:30
p.m. the garden tractor pull will begin.
The day continues with a hot dog eating contest and extricating
demonstration at 2 p.m. Shaffer Insurance will be putting on a treasure
hunt at 3 p.m. From 3:30-6:30 p.m. Missy’s Talent Show and
music will be presented. To round out the day starting at 4:30 p.m.
the Schuyler Museum will hold a taco feed.
Other activities to be held through out the day include a flea market,
food vendors, beer garden, and karaoke.
The rodeo events will feature bareback riding, saddle bronc, steer
wrestling, calf roping, team roping barrel racing, bull riding,
wild steer mugging and calf scramble.
Rodeo events begin at 8 p.m. May 15 and continue at 8 p.m. May 16
at the Burlingame Saddle Club Arena, in Burlingame. The event is
sanctioned by URA/MRCA, and C-R-McKellips Rodeo Co will provide
