OSAGE CITY—An Osage City man was arrested for domestic battery after being hospitalized for injuries he suffered during the incident.

Osage City Police responded to a domestic violence call in the 100 block of Safford Street at about 3 a.m. July 20, where they found Christopher Ayalla, 41, who had received a cut to his abdomen.

Osage City Police Chief Fred Nech said a neighbor made the call to police after Ayalla’s domestic partner had gone to the neighbor’s home seeking safety.

Ayalla was transported by ambulance to Stormont Vail Hospital, in Topeka. The next day, he was released from the hospital and arrested by Osage City Police.

According to Nech, the female victim was badly beaten in the incident, but refused treatment.

Ayalla was charged in Osage County District Court with one felony count of criminal threat and one misdemeanor count of domestic battery.

Nech said no charges would be filed against the victim in the case.

“She knifed him in self-defense,” Nech said.

As of Tuesday, Ayalla remained in the Osage County Jail on a $5,000 cash surety bond.
