Daniel Robert Towle

June 12, 1962 – Jan. 7, 2019

TOPEKA — Daniel Robert Towle, Hartford, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Rolling Hills Assisted Living, Topeka. He was 56.

He was born June 12, 1962, at Topeka, the son of James A. and Roberta A. Sparks Towle. He grew up in Osage City. He was disabled and lived in Hartford, under the care of Quest Services for many years. He was living at Rolling Hills Assisted Living for a few months.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James “Chris” Towle.

Lolita Lucille Laubach

Sept. 17, 1924 – Jan. 6, 2019

TOPEKA — Lolita Lucille Laubach, Topeka, formerly of Scranton, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at McCrite Care Center, Topeka. She was 94.

She was born Sept. 17, 1924, at Olsburg, the daughter of Le Roy and Elsie Toothaker Warthen. She moved to Wheaton when she was six months old. She graduated from Wheaton High School.

She attended Clark's Business School, Topeka and was employed by Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company as a cashier from 1943 to 1953.

Marilyn Adkins

Oct. 31, 1937 – Jan. 5, 2019

EMPORIA — Marilyn “Joan” Adkins died early Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2019, at Emporia Place. She was 81.

She was born Oct. 31, 1937, at Brewster, the daughter of Marion A. and Vera J. Lowe Tucker. She attended high school in Hayward, Calif., and graduated from Hayward High School with class of 1955. Following high school, she joined U.S. Navy and received nursing training while serving.

Shirley Nadine Parks

April 5, 1931 – Jan. 5, 2019

TOPEKA — Shirley Nadine Parks, beloved wife of Lawrence E. Parks, Miller, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, surrounded by her family. She was 81.

She was born April 5, 1931, daughter of Ed and Fern Johnson, Miller. She graduated from Miller High School in 1949.

She worked as a nurse aid before marrying her high school sweetheart, Lawrence, March 26, 1950. They were married in the house where she lived until her passing. He survives.

Overbrook water main break repaired

The water main repair in the alley behind 309 Maple has been completed and service has been restored to the area. There may be some discoloration in the water or air in lines in surrounding areas. Adequate pressures and chlorine residual were maintained so this break did not require a boil advisory. For more information, call Overbrook City Hall at (785) 665-7328.

Water Main Break in Overbrook

The City of Overbrook has announced there is a water main break in the alley behind the Overbrook Public Library. Services on the west side of Maple from 303 Maple Street north through 319 Maple Street are affected. Please call City Hall at (785) 665-7328 if you have questions.

Eva Katherine Sebring

Nov. 29, 1928 – Dec. 27, 2018

OVERBROOK — Eva Katherine Sebring, Overbrook, formerly of Burlingame, died Dec. 27, 2018, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 90.

She was born Nov. 29, 1928, the daughter of Fred Aaron Sortor and Ana Urania Carolina Tolin Sortor, Colby. She grew up in Clay Center, graduating from Clay Center High School with the class of 1946 with a degree in normal training.

She married LeRoy Sebring Oct. 19, 1946, at Clay Center. They celebrated 52 years of marriage until Leroy passed away in 1998.
