Deputy honored for commendable action

LYNDON—Osage County Sheriff’s Deputy Blake Reker was honored during Monday’s Osage County Commission meeting.

The meeting was moved the open area just outside the commission chambers to accommodate the crowd present to honor Reker, including Reker’s family, other deputies, Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards, Franklin County Administrator Lisa Johnson, Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn and Osage County Undersheriff Jeff Johnson. After welcoming everyone, commissioner Ken Kuykendall turned the meeting over to Dunn.

Honor Flights ferry vets to D.C.

Lyndon High School continued hosting Honor Flight this spring with two more trips by veterans and student chaperones to visit the WWII and Korean war memorials in Washington, D.C.

“Honor flight is such a unique experience,” said LHS junior Brenna Herdman. “It is an amazing feeling to give back to the veterans after they risked their lives for our freedom.”
