Former KanBuild owner found dead in apparent suicide

OSAGE CITY—The former owner of KanBuild Inc., a major modular homes company that operated in Osage City, was found dead this week.

At 4:37 p.m. June 23rd, officers of the Osage City Police Department were dispatched to a possible suicide discovered by an employee of Asset LifeCycle, LLC, in the parking lot of the facility, 126 Nichols Road, Osage City, Kansas.

Lyndon man killed in motorcycle accident

OTTAWA—David Cain, 59, Lyndon, a former Osage County Sheriff, was killed in a two-vehicle collision Sunday in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff’s personnel responded at 8 p.m. June 19 to K-68 Highway and Kentucky Road for a motor vehicle crash.

County to host three contested primaries

LYNDON—The deadline for candidates to file for the Aug. 2 primary election was June 1.

Following last week’s cutoff, the county will have contested primaries for three of the six county offices up for election in the Nov. 1 general election.

The following people have filed for county offices:

County Clerk – Rhonda Beets, Republican.

County Attorney – Brandon L. Jones, Republican.

County Treasurer – Lexie Fager, Republican; Tamara Tevis-Massey, Republican; Shari Weber, Republican.

Resurfacing work to begin on Burlingame Road

BURLINGAME—Resurfacing work on the paved road between Burlingame and Auburn was set to begin June 8.
 

Boil water advisory rescinded for Scranton

TOPEKA—The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a boil water advisory for the City of Scranton public water supply located in Osage County. The advisory was issued because of a loss of pressure. Inadequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for the City of Scranton public water supply located in Osage County. KDHE officials issued the advisory because of a loss of pressure. Inadequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.

The advisory took effect on May 29 and will remain in effect until conditions which place the system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be adequately resolved.

Arrest made in connection with Lyndon break-ins

LYNDON—Randy Moore, 66, Shawnee, was arrested April 29 in connection with two break-in attempts reported last week in Lyndon. The break-ins took place April 24 and 26 at Sports Mart, located at 24131 S. U.S. 75 Highway, Lyndon.

“During the investigation, it was learned that Bailey and Sons and Harrison Shooter Supply of Lyndon also were damaged by Moore,” said Laurie Dunn, Osage County sheriff. “Moore was detained on numerous counts of criminal damage to property, criminal discharge of a firearm, attempted burglary and criminal threat.”

Plane crash lands near airport

OSAGE CITY—A 1942 Boeing Stearman with U.S. Navy markings crash landed about one-third of a mile north of the Osage County Airport at 3:30 p.m. April 28.

According to a report by the Kansas Highway Patrol, the pilot had taken off and the airplane lost power. The pilot tried to make an emergency landing in an open field. The plane landed, but the ground was too wet, causing the gear to become stuck and breaking off. The plane came to rest facing north.
