High speed chase originates in Osage County

EMPORIA—The Osage County Sheriff’s Department was involved in a high-speed chase on Christmas Day, originating near Melvern Lake and ending in Emporia.

Around 2:40 p.m. Dec. 25, a sheriff's deputy clocked a 2002 Chevrolet passenger vehicle on radar at 90 mph in a 55 mph zone along Hoch Road near Melvern Lake’s Sundance Park.

“The vehicle did not stop for the deputy and chased ensued,” said Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn. “The chase went through Lebo then west on Old Highway 50 through Coffey County into Lyon County."
