Milton Carl Scheer

Feb. 10, 1930 – Dec. 23, 2013

LYNDON—Milton Carl Scheer died Dec. 23, 2013, at his home in Lyndon. He was 83.

He was born Feb. 10, 1930, at Maud, Okla., the son of David and Hazel Noe Scheer. He lived in McFarland before moving to Lyndon where he has lived for the past 36 years.

He graduated from Topeka High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1950. He worked as a painter most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Eugene Scheer.

Marilyn Vaye Davis

June 13, 1936 – Dec. 20, 2013

TOPEKA—Marilyn Vaye Davis, Topeka, died Dec. 20, 2013, at a Topeka hospital. She was 77.

She was born June 13, 1936, on a farm in rural Eskridge. She was the daughter of James Ivan Sr. and Vera Lorene McMasters Bennett. She grew up in Eskridge, and graduated from Eskridge High School in 1955.

Betty A. Thornton

Aug. 19, 1945 – Dec. 25, 2013

SCRANTON—Betty A. Thornton, Scranton, died Dec. 25, 2013. She was 67.

She was born Aug. 19, 1946, at Harvard, Ill., the daughter of Herbert and Margaret Brim Stoner.

She married William “Bill” Thornton Sr. Oct. 16, 1965. He survives of the home.

She worked as a cook at Brookside Manor, Overbrook. She was a member of Overbrook United Methodist Church. She loved playing bingo and piano.

Earl Dean Satzler

July 11, 1935 – Dec. 21, 2013

FORT SCOTT—Earl Dean Satzler, rural McCune, died Dec. 21, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, KS. He was 78. He had been a resident of Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home since May 11, 2011.

He was born July 11, 1935, in Wabaunsee County, the son of Earl Everett and Dorothy Gertrude Provost Satzler. He attended schools in Harveyville, and graduated from Harveyville High School in 1953. In 1955, he attended Bartlesville Christian College and worked in Bartlesville, Okla.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Dr. Lloyd Lee Dodson

Dr. Lloyd Dodson

April 20, 1924 – Dec. 21, 2013

TOPEKA—Dr. Lloyd Lee Dodson, Topeka, died Dec. 21, 2013, peacefully in his home with his loving family by his side. He was 89.

He was born April 20, 1924, the son of Stokes and Beulah Dodson. He grew up in Topeka, having attended Lowman Hill and Randolph grade schools, Boswell Junior High, and in 1942, he graduated from Topeka High School.

John Edward DeYoung

Sept. 5, 1947 – Dec. 21, 2013

TOPEKA—John Edward DeYoung, Osage City, died Dec. 21, 2013, at Stormont-Vail HealthCare, Topeka. He was 66.

He was born Sept. 5, 1947, at Homer, N.Y., the son of Hank and Charlotte DeYoung. He attended Cortland High School, Cortland, N.Y., and graduated in the class of 1965. He attended automotive mechanics school until being called to serve in the U.S. Army in 1967.

He retired from the State of New York utilities after 20 years of service in the maintenance department.

Nicole Michelle Anstaett

Nicole Michelle Anstaett

Dec. 29, 1986 – Dec. 1, 2013

GRESHAM, Ore.— Nicole Michelle Anstaett was born Dec. 29, 1986, at Riverside, Calif., the daughter of Brian Anstaett and Karen McAuthen. She was 26. She lived in Gresham, Ore., and Burlingame.

She was a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. She was a beautiful young woman and mother whose whole life was her son.

Neil A. Williams

July 14, 1932—December 19, 2013

VASSAR—Neil A. Williams died Dec. 19, 2013, at his home at Lamont Hill, near Vassar. He was 81.

He was born July 14, 1932, at Lyndon, the son of Clifford and Grace Lindsay Williams. He lived most of his life in the Lyndon community and lived at Vassar since 2000.

He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1950. He owned Williams Motor Company, Lyndon, sold Insurance, and was a car salesman in Topeka. He was a member of Lyndon Lions and Lyndon United Methodist Church. He was active in Osage County politics.

Margaret Evelyn Hill

Aug. 3, 1927 – Dec. 14, 2013

ROSSVILLE—Margaret Evelyn Hill went to be with the Lord on Dec. 14, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. She was 86.

She was born Aug. 3, 1927, at Denver Colo., the daughter of Orris E. and Margaret Elizabeth Hughes Baer, the fifth of seven children. In her early years, she lived in Brunswick, Mo., Denver, Colo., Murfreesboro, Tenn., Travis AFB California, and then resided in Rossville.

Ronald Peimann

Jan. 17, 1952 – Dec. 13, 2013

TOPEKA—Ronald “Hawkeye” Peimann, Vassar, died Dec. 13, 2013, at a Topeka hospital. He was 61.

He was born Jan. 17, 1952, at Emporia, the son of Dean and Edrie Brecheisen Peimann. He grew up in Vassar and returned and lived in Vassar for the past 25 years. He worked in construction and was a farm hand.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Peimann, on May 20, 1993.
