Erma Marion Anderson

Oct. 24, 1916 – Oct. 10, 2014

TOPEKA—Erma Marion Anderson, Topeka, entered the gates of the Gloryland Oct. 10, 2014, just two weeks short of her 98th birthday. She was 97.

She was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Osage County. She taught school in Osage City prior to her marriage to Andrew Lawrence Anderson on June 15, 1938. They moved to Topeka, where they owned and operated the Bible Supply and Gift Shop in downtown Topeka.

Larry E. Masters

Feb. 22, 1943 – Oct. 6 2014

BURLINGAME—Larry E. Masters, Burlingame, died Oct. 6, 2014, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was 71.

He was born Feb. 22, 1943, at Burlingame, the son of Marshall and Georgia Patterson Masters. He grew up in Burlingame, and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1961.

He was a farmer all his life. He also worked in the internal mail system for the State of Kansas, where he retired after 11 years of service.

He married Janice Rose, Feb. 6, 1964, in North Carolina. She survives at the home.

Richard Newman

July 25, 1935—Oct. 1, 2014

HARVEYVILLE—Richard Newman, Harveyville, died Oct. 1, 2014. He was 79.

He was born July 25, 1935, at Little Falls, Minn., the son of George and Agnes Newman.

He married Karen Cripps Jan. 8, 1955. She survives of the home.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 33 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Osage City Legion and a member of Rubber Workers Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Rosline Robert Fellman

Jan. 17, 1920 – Oct. 2, 2014

STILLWATER, Okla.—Rosline Robert Fellman, Osage City, passed peacefully from this life Oct. 2, 2014, at Stillwater, Okla., with her family at her side. She was 94.

She was born Jan. 17, 1920, at Osage City, to Albert and Evona Mathieu Robert. She was raised in Osage City, graduating from Osage City High School in 1938.

She married the love of her life, Howard Charles Fellman Aug. 26, 1940, a marriage that would last nearly 50 years and ended due to his death in 1990. The couple had two children, Carol Sue and Charles Howard.

Earl D. Ross

July 12, 1931 – Oct. 1, 2014

TOPEKA—Earl Duane Ross, Osage City, died Oct. 1, 2014, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was 83.

He was born July 12, 1931, in rural Harveyville, the son of Edman and Evelyn Wetzel Ross. He graduated from Harveyville High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955 as a medic.

He married Ruth Morris Jan. 21, 1956. They later divorced.

Kathryn E. O’Bryhim

Oct. 7, 1923 – Sept. 30, 2014

OVERBROOK—Kathryn E. O’Bryhim, Overbrook, died gracefully at her home Sept. 30, 2014. She was 90.

She began life Oct. 7, 1923, at Maricupa, Ariz., the youngest child of George and Jessie Freed Frary.

A graduate of Herbert Hoover Senior High School, San Diego, Calif., she went on to work at the Adel Division of General Metals Corporation, Burbank, Calif. She married Donald Wyman and gave birth to her children, Pam and Mike.

Marvel E. Fisher

Nov. 16 1925 – Oct. 1, 2014

OTTAWA—Marvel E. Fisher, Ottawa, formerly of Overbrook, passed away peacefully at Ottawa Retirement Village Oct. 1, 2014. She had been a resident of ORV for the past three years. She was 88.

She was born Nov. 16, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Eva McCain, Michigan Valley.

She married John D. Harmison October 1945, at Washington D.C. They later divorced.

Mildred Lou Lininger

May 10, 1942 – Sept. 28, 2014

TOPEKA—Mildred Lou Lininger, Melvern, died Sept. 28, 2014, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 72.

She was born May 10, 1942, at Canton, Ill., the daughter of George and Mildred Carley. She lived in Melvern since 1980.

She was a hairdresser and a security deputy. She was a member of the Melvern City Council. She loved to crochet and sew.

She married Charles “Bud” Lininger in May 1980. He survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mildred; and a brother, George Carley.

Harold C. Brecheisen

March 8, 1928 – Sept. 28, 2014

OSAGE CITY—Harold C. Brecheisen, Vassar, died Sept. 28, 2014, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. He was 86.

He was born March 8, 1928, on the family farm south of Vassar, the son of Vivian and Verna Redenbaugh Brecheisen.

He grew up on the family farm with nine siblings, expecting to farm the rest of his life. He lived in Osage City, New Mexico and Sierra Vista, Ariz., then returned to Osage City.

Douglas Lee McGrew

Sept. 26, 2014

CARBONDALE—Douglas Lee McGrew, Carbondale, died Sept. 26, 2014, from health complications. He was 54.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Francis McGrew; and a brother, John Daniel McGrew.

He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Garst and Lesley McGrew; a son, Bryan McGrew; and a nephew, Michael McGrew.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 2 at Church of Christian Fellowship, Carbondale.
