Ellis Graham

Sept. 18, 1938 – Nov. 29, 2016

EMPORIA—Ellis “John” Graham Jr., Reading, died Nov. 29, 2016, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia. He was 78.

He was born Sept. 18, 1938, on the family farm near Arvonia, the son of Ellis and Essie Smith Graham. When he was five years old, the family moved to Reading.

He attended Reading High School and graduated with the Class of 1956. He went on to further his education by attending Emporia State University and Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Mo.

Sidney O. Allison

Nov. 26, 2016

TOPEKA—Sidney O. "Sid" Allison, Topeka, died Nov. 26, 2016. He was. 74.

He was a loving, kind and devoted husband, and father that will be sorely missed by his family and many others. Besides being a great father to his two daughters, Kim and Anne, he was a wonderful husband to his wife of fifty years, Jan.

He had been very ill for almost 11 months and had suffered a great deal of pain. No human should have to go through what he did but when asked how he could endure such pain and suffering he replied, “I just take it one day at a time.”

Millianne Everett

July 26, 1932 – Nov. 13, 2016

TOPEKA—Millianne Everett, Lyndon, died Nov. 13, 2016, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. She was 84.

She was born July 26, 1932, at Emporia, the daughter of Preston and Bernice Roberts Moon. She lived in Lyndon and then Las Vegas before returning to Lyndon three years ago.

She worked as a registered nurse for the Menninger’s Foundation, Topeka.

She is survived by two sons, Kevin Parker, Lyndon, and Randall Parker, Palm Springs, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Irene Williams

Aug. 30, 1925 – Nov. 17, 2016

BALDWIN CITY—Marjorie Irene Williams died Nov. 17, 2016 in her sleep at Baldwin City. She was 91.

She was born Aug. 30, 1925, in rural Melvern, the daughter of Roy Sutton and Jessie Shupe Sutton.

She was a loving housewife and homemaker. She taught at Jackrabbit one room school in rural Osage County early in her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fort Morgan, Colorado.

Erma L. Trowbridge

Sept. 12, 1928 – Nov. 18, 2016

TOPEKA—Erma L. Trowbridge, Topeka, died Nov. 18, 2016. She had been a resident of Topeka Presbyterian Manor for more than a year. She was 88.

She was born Sept. 12, 1928, the daughter of Noble Curtis Remington and Florence Esther Rowe, and was one of 12 children. She grew up near Carbondale, and later earned her GED.

She married Junior Lee “Joe” Trowbridge March 4, 1949, at Topeka. He preceded her in death in 2008. They lived in California while Joe served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Philip Wayne Neeley

Dec. 9, 1928 – Nov. 19, 2016

TOPEKA—Philip Wayne Neeley, Topeka, died Nov. 19, 2016, from complications with pneumonia, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 87.

He was born Dec. 9, 1928, at Harveyville, the son of George W. and Elva Blanche Hutson Neeley. He graduated from Harveyville High School with the class of 1946.

He married LaRita Dunn on June 17, 1951, at Burlingame. She survives. He and his wife raised four sons at Silver Lake, where the couple lived until 2014 before relocating to Topeka.

Sylvia L. Calkins

Sept. 19, 1929 – Nov. 19, 2016

TOPEKA—Sylvia L. Calkins, Topeka, formerly of Burlingame, died Nov. 19, 2016, at a Topeka nursing home. She was 87.

She was born Sept. 19, 1929, at Burlingame, the daughter of Erwin A. and Hazel E. Dutton Taber. She graduated from Harveyville High School and from Clarks Business School. She worked for Bell Telephone in Topeka.

She married Donald W. Calkins, March 31, 1951, at Burlingame. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1991.

Robert Cameron Christiason

Feb. 17, 1942 – Nov. 19, 2016

LYNDON—Robert “Christy” Cameron Christiason, Lyndon, died Nov. 19, 2016, at his home. He was 74.

He was born Feb. 17, 1942, at home in Barclay, the son of Homer and Lucille Davis Christiason. He graduated from Osage City High School and was a lifelong resident of Barclay and Osage City communities.

He married Dorothy Mae Schoepflin April 3, 1966, at Osage City. She survives.

He worked at DeBaun International and later retired from Meier’s Ready Mix.

Clifford I. Waller

May 30, 1926 – Nov. 16, 2016

TOPEKA—Clifford “Bud” Ivan Waller, Osage City, died Nov. 16, 2016, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was 90.

He was born May 30, 1926, at Mont Ida, the son to Chester and Margaret Irene Manspeaker Waller.

He had worked as a farmer in his younger years and then for Pella Windows in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

He moved to Osage City and married Neta F. Germann. They were together for 20 years until she preceded in death on Oct. 22, 2016.

Mildred Greene

March 17, 1932 ¬– Nov. 17, 2016

OVERBROOK—Mildred Greene, Carbondale, died Nov. 17, 2016, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 84.

She was born March 17, 1932, at Lyndon, the daughter of Warren and Marilyn Cody Roberts. She grew up between Lyndon and Osage City and lived in Osage City for several years. She lived in Carbondale for the last 53 years.

She was a homemaker and was an owner and operator of Greene Sanitation. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, was a bingo fanatic, auction queen and outstanding mom.
