Marie Anne Laue

Aug. 10, 1928 – Sept. 26, 2014

OSAGE CITY—Marie Anne Laue, Vassar, died Sept. 26, 2014, at Osage City Nursing Center. She was 86.

She was born Aug. 10, 1928, on the family farm near Vassar, the daughter of R.C. and Elsa Peimann Bauck. She grew up near Vassar and lived in Overland Park for over 30 years before moving to Osage City.

Duane G. Rowe

Aug. 18, 1944 — Sept. 22, 2014

TOPEKA—Duane G. Rowe, Topeka, died Sept. 22, 2014. He was 70.

He was born Aug. 18, 1944, in Osage County, the son of George Earl and Gracie McPhail Rowe. He graduated from Scranton High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Baker University in 1966.

He was employed as a systems analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 30 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Christian Lord Ministries.

He married Kay L. Lanter Aug. 5, 1966, at Everest. She survives.

Leonard O. Rucker Sr.

Jan. 27, 1931 – Sept. 22, 2014

BURLINGAME—Leonard O. Rucker Sr., Burlingame, died Sept. 22, 2014. He was 83.

He was born Jan. 27, 1931, at Wichita, the son of Ormal Randolph and Clara Suzanne Koeppen Rucker. He was a graduate of Wichita High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force until retiring in May 31, 1975.
He was also employed and later retired from the Veteran’s Hospital, Topeka.

Ruth Marie Kuhnhausen

Dec. 24, 1927 – Aug. 2, 2014

VANCOUVER—Ruth Marie Kuhnhausen died Aug. 2, 2014, at Ray Hickey Hospice Center, Vancouver, Wash. She was 86.

She was born Dec. 24, 1927, the daughter of William and Edith Lindsay, Lyndon. She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1945.

She married Vic Kuhnhausen at Vancouver, Wash. He preceded her in death in 1990.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicolas, in 1981; four brothers, Dean, Dale, Duane, and Homer Lindsay; and a sister, Ilo Mercer.

Wilma A. Carlson

Nov. 21, 1929 – Sept. 21, 2014

TOPEKA—Wilma Agnes Hasty Carlson, Osage City, died Sept. 21, 2014, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 84.

She was born Nov. 21, 1929, at Red Cloud, Neb., the daughter of William Franklin and Stella L. Lane Hasty.

She married Robert Lee Carlson Sr. Dec. 14, 1948, at Lyndon. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker the majority of her life. She had worked for Hallmark for 10 years. She loved cooking, baking, singing, doing crafts, her flowers and was an avid KU basketball fan.

Ruth Edna McNabb

Oct. 21, 1924 ¬– Sept. 17, 2014

TOPEKA—Ruth Edna DeWeese McNabb died Sept. 17, 2014, at Topeka. She was 89.

She was born Oct. 21, 1924, at Paola, the daughter of Earl and Edith Mickelson DeWeese.

She married Charles E. McNabb Sept. 11, 1944, at Portsmouth, Va. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1992. God blessed their marriage with three daughters, six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Shannon DeWeese.

Donald Dwight Snoddy

Nov. 10, 1947 – Sept. 12, 2014

OMAHA, Neb.—Donald Dwight Snoddy, 66, died Friday, Sept. 12, at his home in Omaha, Neb., surrounded by his family.

Services were Sept. 16 at St. James Catholic Church, Omaha, Neb. Burial followed at Fort Calhoun Cemetery, Fort Calhoun, Neb.

Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak and Cutler Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Ross Andrew Olson

Aug. 26, 1942 – Sept. 14, 2014

DWIGHT—Retired Pastor, Ross Andrew Olson, Dwight, died Sept. 14, 2014, at his residence. He was 72.

He is survived by his wife, Cher, of the home; four children, Ezra Olson and wife, Shawna, Kingman, Spencer Olson and wife, Michelle, Emporia, Michelle Green and husband, Paul, Kansas City, Mark Olson and wife, Kelly, Lenexa; five grandchildren; and a brother, Victor Olson and wife, Frances, Burlingame.

Rena Louise Irwin

Feb. 25, 1934 – Sept. 15, 2014

TOPEKA—Rena Louise Irwin, Topeka, died Sept. 15, 2014, at Topeka. She was 80.

She was born Feb. 25, 1934, at Reading, the daughter of Alfred H. and Esther Willits Steen.

She was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 36 years.

She married Edward F. Irwin Feb. 20, 1954, at Osage City. He preceded her in death.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Kirk Irwin.

Betty Lou Miller

Feb. 7, 1927 – Sept. 15, 2014

OSAGE CITY—Betty Lou Miller, Lyndon, died Sept. 15, 2014, at Peterson Nursing Home, Osage City. She was 87.
She was born Feb. 7, 1927, on the family farm northwest of Lyndon, the daughter of Chester and Frances King Nichols. She lived all of her life in the Lyndon community. She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1945.

She worked for the State of Kansas in the Department of Revenue. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and United Methodist Church, both in Lyndon.
