OSAGE CITY — Edie Adams, Osage City, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at her home. She was 68.

She was born Dec. 24, 1948, at Topeka. She retired from U.S. Airways in 2010.

She married Dale Adams Jan. 20, 1973. He preceded her in death.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Georgia, Wanda, Sue and Sonia; and two brothers, Marvin and Tom.

Brian Wischropp

Nov. 13, 1970 – Oct. 20, 2017

TOPEKA — Brian Wischropp died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was 46

He was born on Nov. 13, 1970, at Topeka, the son of David and Kathryn Tillman Wischropp.

He lived in Lyndon until sixth grade. He then lived in Texas and back to Topeka and Meriden. He graduated from Jefferson West High School in 1989. He lived in Arizona and Colorado and had returned to Topeka in 1993.

Bryce Romine, Osage County Emergency Management Director announced that all burn permits are suspended for today, Oct. 23, 2017. This is a no burn day. No outside burning allowed.

Very high fire danger today. The Rangeland Fire Danger Index will be in the very high category.

Very high fire danger means, fire control will be very difficult and require extended effort. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Kale Jordan Cauthon

June 14, 1994 – Oct. 15, 2017

WAKARUSA — Kale Jordan Cauthon, 23, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017. He was 23.

He was born June 14, 1994, at Topeka, to Jim and Denise Brayton Cauthon. He graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 2012.

He participated in football, wrestling and golf, but his true love was wrestling and his wrestling family. He was skilled at welding, sheet metal work and working with his hands. He was a kind and loving person. His smile and big heart were his best traits.

Merle Marsh

May 5, 1926 – Oct. 15, 2017

TOPEKA — Merle Marsh, Carbondale, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was 91.

He was born May 5, 1926, at Brewster, Minn., the son of Clayton and Esther Kistner Marsh. He lived in the Overbrook and Carbondale communities since 1967.

He graduated from Sioux City Leeds High School in 1944. He was asked to come to St. Louis, Mo., to try out for the Cardinals, but he had already enlisted.

Arthur C. Casaert

Sept. 28, 1917 – Oct. 15, 2017

WELLSVILLE — Arthur C. Casaert, Stilwell, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Wellsville Manor, Wellsville. He was 100.

He was born Sept. 28, 1917, at Lenexa, the third of six children born to Victor and Alida DeLaere Casaert.

He married Margaret Ceule Sept. 16, 1944, at Kansas City, Mo. She preceded him in death.

Thomas Anstaett

Aug. 20, 1940 – Oct. 15, 2017

TOPEKA — Thomas “Tommy” W. Anstaett, Topeka, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Homestead of Topeka. He was 77.

He was born Aug. 20, 1940, at Osage City, the son of Frederick and Olive Hotchkiss Anstaett. He grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1958.

He was a mechanic for the former Mosby-Mack Ford Dealership, later Noller Ford, Topeka, for 25 years. He later worked for Hallmark Card Company for 23 years until his retirement in 2002. He also worked for Honeyman Motors, Topeka, after his retirement.

Shirley Anne Davis Bosworth

Oct. 24, 1933 – Oct. 7, 2017

TOPEKA — Shirley Anne Davis Bosworth, Topeka, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Topeka. She 83.

She was born Oct. 24, 1933, at Harveyville. She was the youngest of five children born to Edd James and Annie Mae Trueblood Davis.

Jeffery D. Payne

March 23, 1959 – Sept. 13, 2017

TOPEKA — Jeffery D. Payne, Lyndon, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was 58.

He was born March 23, 1959, at Gardner, the son of James and Helen Jenks Payne Sr. He lived in Lyndon most of his life.

He worked as a mechanic at Sloop Sales and Hook’s Repair south of Lyndon for several years.

He married Rebecca “Susie” Bruntmyer June 30, 1990, at Pomona Lake. She survives of the home.

Shirley A. Bosworth

TOPEKA — Shirley A. Bosworth, Topeka, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Topeka. She was 83.

Services are pending. Carey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
