Marvin Crumb

May 24, 1939 – June 21, 2018

HARVEYVILLE — Marvin Crumb died June 21, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 79.

He was born May 24,1939. He was born and raised in Harveyville. His life took him to the west coast where he had a successful career in the electronics business. He served as president and CEO of NCR, Mannesman Tally and Opcon before eventually owning and running his own company Terra Technology that manufactured earthquake sensing devices.

Erma Shelinbarger

July 28, 1946 – June 29, 2018

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Erma "Red" Shelinbarger, Augusta, Iowa, died Friday, June 29, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. She was 71.

Graveside service and burial was Tuesday, July 3 at Augusta Cemetery, Augusta, Iowa.

Jack Allegre

Aug. 30, 1925 – July 2, 2018

EMPORIA — Jack Allegre, 92, of Lebo, KS, died July 2, 2018 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. He was 92.

He was born Aug. 30, 1925 at Wichita, the only child of Kenneth M. and Lulu Mae Leach Allegre. He was a lifelong resident and booster of Lebo, moving there before his first birthday when his father opened the Allegre Rexall Drugstore.

Heather Dianne Bartlett

Dec. 2. 1969 – June 12, 2018

EMPORIA — Heather Dianne Bartlett died June 12, 2018, at her home in Emporia. She was 48.

She was born Dec. 2, 1969, at Topeka, the daughter of Marvin and Linda Meyer Bartlett. She graduated from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School in 1988. She attended Emporia State University where she received her Bachelor's of Science in nursing.

Milton Fredrick Brown Jr.,

Sept. 10, 1945 – June 30, 2018

QUENEMO — Milton Fredrick Brown Jr., Quenemo, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at his home in Quenemo. He was 72.

He was born Sept. 10, 1945, at Kansas City, the son of Milton and Aletha Anderson Brown Sr. He lived in Quenemo for the last 22 years and lived in Kansas City before that.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked as an electrician for St. Luke's Hospital.

He married Mary Lou Findlay Jan. 22, 1966, at Bonner Springs. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2011.

Jennifer Abrahamson Towle

Died - June 22, 2018

TOPEKA - Jennifer Abrahamson Towle, Topeka, died Friday, June 22, 2018. She was 49.

A Celebration of Jennifer's life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at Countryside United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Damien Burchett

April 18, 1973 - June 3, 2018

OVERBROOK - Damien "Craig" Burchett, Overbrook, died Sunday, June 3, 2018. He was 45.

He was born April 18, 1973, at Winchester, the son of Delbert Jack and Carol Ann Sharp Anno. He was a 1991 graduate of Santa Fe Trail High School.

He was employed by Westar Energy at Tecumseh Energy Center and Jeffrey Energy Center.

He was a proud father who enjoyed spending time with family, working hard, being there for anyone who needed him, hanging out with the Woodshop Guys, riding his motorcycle and drinking beer.

Nicholas "Nick" John Buek

Nov. 15, 1951 – June 21, 2018

TOPEKA — Nicholas "Nick" John Buek, Topeka, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Topeka. He was 66.

He was born Nov. 15, 1951, at Topeka, the son of Robert and Betty Jo Tarro Buek. He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1969 and attended Washburn University.

He worked a majority of his career in sales for 3M Dental, later working for Edmonds Dental.

Edward Earl Kramer

Oct. 14, 1925 – June 18. 2018

CARBONDALE — Edward Earl Kramer, Carbondale, died Monday, June 18, 2018, at his home. He was 92.

He was born Oct. 14, 1925, at Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Frank Kramer and Elna M. Hollister Kramer. He grew up in the Overbrook and Manhattan area and moved to Albuquerque, N.M. his senior year, where he graduated from High School.

He served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy with the rank of Seaman 1st Class with the Submarine Division 61, USS Pintado. He was honorably discharged April 14, 1946.

James R. Driver

Oct. 16, 1921 – June 16, 2018

POMONA — James R. Driver, Pomona, passed away at his home Saturday, June 16, 2018. He was 96.

He was born Oct. 16, 1921, at Quenemo, the son of Roy and Hannah Windett Driver. He was the oldest of nine children. He graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1939.

Following high school, he went into farming with his father until he was drafted and after the service, went into partnership with his father and brother, Joe, on the family farm. He retired from farming in 2008.
