Philip J. Davis

OSAGE CITY — Philip J. Davis, Burlingame, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Peterson Health Center, Osage City. He was 88.

He was born Dec. 8, 1928, at Melvern, the son of Philip and Bertha Cass Davis. He retired from the State of Kansas as a stationary boiler fireman at the Youth Center in Topeka.

He enjoyed fishing, square dancing and clogging. He was a member of the Kountry Kuzzins Square Dancers and the Sunflower State Cloggers.

David R. Blex

April 21, 1954 – July 5, 2017

TOPEKA — David R. Blex, loving father, brother and friend, passed away July 5, 2017, at Midland Hospice Care, Topeka. He was 63.

He was born April 21, 1954, at Emporia, the son of Don and Betty Roberts Blex. He held a deep love for his home community of Miller and served on the volunteer fire department for many years.

Tracy Dean Ullery

Tracy Dean Ullery, 51, Overbrook, passed away from complications from cancer on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born June 27, 1966, at Topeka, KS, the son of George Dale and Joyce (Rowe) Ullery. He graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1984.
Tracy's passion was driving semi-trucks. He started his driving career after he finished truck driving school shortly after high school. Tracy was a dedicated long time employee and truck driver for the Ottawa Cooperative in Overbrook.

Joseph Leroy Driver

TOPEKA- Joseph Leroy Driver passed from this world on June 29, 2017, at Lexington Park in Topeka.
Joe was born October 21, 1928 in Quenemo, to Roy and Hannah (Windett) Driver. Joe graduated from Quenemo High School in 1946. He joined the Army in November of 1951 and was honorably discharged in October of 1953, after serving in the Korean Conflict.

George W. McMullen, Jr.

George W. McMullen, Jr., 81, of Osage City, died Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka.

He was born March 29, 1936 in Topeka, the son of George W. McMullen, Sr. and Bertha Morris McMullen. He graduated from Denison High School.

He served in the U.S. Army for seventeen years where he was a heavy equipment mechanic. After his retirement from the military he worked as a fork lift mechanic for various companies.

Margaret Bardsley

December 17, 1915-June 20, 2017

Margaret Bardsley, 101, formerly of Scranton, passed away June 20, 2017, in Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kansas.

Margaret was born December 14, 1915, to Mable (Fry) and Clarence Elliott. She married George M. Bardsley in 1932, beginning a lifetime together that lasted 79 years. George preceded her in death in 2011. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Clarence L. Elliott and Donald E. Elliott; a son, Robert Wayne Bardsley; three grandsons, Perry King, George W. Bardsley and David Peaslee.

McKenzie Lucille Hinck

McKenzie Lucille Hinck, 15, Carbondale, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 28, 2017, surrounded by her family.

McKenzie was born July 21, 2001, in Topeka, the daughter of Lonnie and Kimberly Shaw Hinck. She was home educated from preschool through tenth grade, and was a member of Cornerstone Family Schools. When McKenzie was in the eighth grade, she began taking online courses at Allen County Community College.

William L. Nedeau

Aug. 20, 1940 – June 28, 2017

OSAGE CITY — William L. “Bill” Nedeau passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at his home in rural Osage City. He was 76.

He was born Aug. 20, 1940, at Topeka, the son of Henry William and Kathryn Olga Lue Nedeau.

His early years were spent in Topeka. He later moved with his family to Overbrook where his love for dogs began, with running beagles, coon dogs and greyhounds as a youth. He graduated from Overbrook High School in 1958.

Milan Harvey Knight

Nov. 5, 1936 – June 25, 2017

TOPEKA — Milan Harvey Knight died Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his home in Topeka. He was 80.

He was born Nov. 5, 1936, at Michigan Valley, the son of Milan and Letha Rose Knight. He grew up in Quenemo, where he graduated from Quenemo High School in 1954. He attended Emporia State University and Washburn University.
