Lynda Gayle Tincher

Jan. 30, 1950 – Feb. 2, 2017

TOPEKA — Lynda Gayle Tincher, Lyndon, died Feb. 2, 2017, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. She was 67.

She was born Jan. 30, 1950, at Newton, the daughter of Walter and Mildred Martin Bradshaw. She grew up in Newton and moved to the Melvern and Lyndon area in 1975. She lived east of Lyndon since 1991.

She worked as a meat wrapper and grocery clerk at the Lyndon Thriftway for many years.

She married Tom Tincher March 30, 1975, at Wichita. He survives of the home.

Kenneth Greene

Feb. 22, 1928 – Feb. 1, 2017

TOPEKA — Kenneth Greene, Carbondale, died Feb. 1, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was 88.

He was born Feb. 22, 1928, at Murray, Neb., the son of Joseph and Stella Pike Greene. He lived in Scranton and for the last 53 years in Carbondale.

He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 23 years until he retired in 1972. He then started Greene Sanitation which became Osage Sanitation. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Donald Garland

Nov. 20, 1930 – Jan. 26, 2017

TOPEKA — Donald “Ike” Garland, Osage City, died Jan. 26, 2017, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was 86.

He was born Nov. 20, 1930, at Hartford, the son of Sylvester and Irene Fish Garland. He grew up in Hartford, lived in Emporia when first married and has lived in Osage City since.

Mardell Vanderslice

Aug. 27, 1916 – Jan. 26, 2017

TOPEKA — Mardell Vanderslice, Lyndon, died Jan. 26, 2017, at Plaza West Care Facility, Topeka. She was 100.

She was born Aug. 27, 1916, at Lyndon, the daughter of Wilbur and Edith Smith Goldsmith. She lived in Osage County all of her life.

She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1934. She had owned and operated the Corner Café and Lyndon Café through the years. She was president of the Republican Women’s Group and was a former member of the Lyndon Presbyterian Church.

William Taylor

Died Jan. 24, 2017

MILLER — William “Tom” Taylor, Miller, died Jan. 24, 2017, at his home. He was 74.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Jan. 30 at Ivy Cemetery near Admire. Family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City.

Charles Heilman

Died Jan. 23, 2017

OSAGE CITY—Charles “Chuck” Heilman died Jan. 23, 2017, at Osage Nursing Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was 94.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian “Billie” Heilman; two daughters, Connie Masenthin and Karen West and husband, Dwight; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Chuck will be 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 29 at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon.

Robert H. Smith

Jan. 16, 2017

SHAWNEE—Robert H. Smith, 75, died Jan. 16, 2017 at his home in Shawnee. He was 75.

He taught Social Studies at Lyndon High School for several years.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Jan. 27 at Cross Points Church, 6824 Lackman Rd., Shawnee. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until service time on Friday.

Billie L. Nedeau

October 14, 1944 – January 17, 2017

Osage City – Billie L. Nedeau, 72, passed away Jan. 17, 2017 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on Oct. 14, 1944 in Kingman, Kansas the daughter of Harold and Rosalia Smith O'Leary.

Billie had lived around the country as an Air Force wife and had been in Topeka for a several years before moving east of Osage City in 1989.

Lyle Keith Gilkey

July 21, 1939 – Jan. 1, 2017

OVERBROOK—Lyle Keith Gilkey died Jan. 1, 2017, at his home west of Overbrook. He was 77.

He was born July 21, 1939, at Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Lyle and Jeraldine Gentry Gilkey. He lived in rural Overbrook for over 20 years, having moved from Whittier, Calif.

He was a sales supervisor and manager for Sparkletts Drinking Water Company in California and was a cattle rancher near Overbrook. He was a member of the Grace Community Church in Overbrook.

Glenna Clarene Dehn

Aug. 5, 1931 – Dec. 31, 2016

TOPEKA—Glenna Clarene Dehn ascended into the arms of Jesus Dec. 31, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 85.

She was born Aug. 5, 1931, at Abilene, the daughter of Harold and Avis Kready Fagan. She lived around the Lyndon community until moving to Topeka in 1973.

She graduated from Quenemo High School in 1948 and attended business school.
