Alice Cellers Weir

OVERBROOK — Alice Cellers Weir passed away peacefully Aug. 27, 2017, at Overbrook. She was 92.

She was born Jan. 27, 1925, the daughter of Harold and Lois Moore Cellers. The family moved to Carbondale from Auburn when Alice was 11 years-old.

Francsica “Frances” Moreno Lira

Oct. 10, 1913

OSAGE CITY — Francsica “Frances” Moreno Lira died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at her home in Osage City. She was 103.

She was born Oct. 10, 1913, at San Franciso de Rencon, Mexico, the daughter of Nicholas Lira and Gabriella Moreno. Her family moved to the United States when she was 2-years-old.

She was a housekeeper the majority of her life. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Altar Society in Osage City.

Kimberly Jean Heuer

April 7, 1980 – Aug. 5, 2017

LAWRENCE — Kimberly Jean Heuer, formerly of Melvern, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at her home in Lawrence. She was 37.

She was born April 7, 1980, at Lawrence, the daughter of David and Stella Franks Heuer. She lived most of her life in the Melvern and Quenemo communities before moving to Lawrence.

Martha A. Colstrom

Nov. 16, 1918 – Aug. 19, 2017

OSAGE CITY — Martha A. Didier Colstrom died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Peterson Health Care, Osage City. She was 98.

She was born Nov. 16, 1918, at Osage City, the daughter of Fernan and Emma Rouviere Didier. She was a life-long resident of the Osage City community.

She married Clarence C. Colstrom June 27, 1936. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1985.

Wanda Miles

June 28, 1922 – Aug. 15, 2017

OSAGE CITY — Wanda Miles died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. She was 95.

She was born June 28, 1922, at Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Ernest and Nellie Blank.

She worked as a cook for the Hilltop Nursing Home, Lyndon, and Petersons Nursing Home, Osage City. She was a member of Lyndon American Legion Auxiliary.

She married Tom Erwin. They later divorced. She married John Miles. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1992.

Wilda “Marie” Hill

Nov. 8, 1919 – Aug. 14, 2017

EMPORIA — Wilda “Marie” Hill, Melvern, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at Presbyterian Manor-Jones Health Center, Emporia. She was 97.

She was born Nov. 8, 1919, on a farm near Melvern, the daughter of Walter and Elsie Patterson White. She lived most of her life in and around Melvern until moving to a retirement facility in Emporia, in 2006.

She married Dave Hill July 16, 1938, and they were married for nearly 70 years. He passed away Feb. 24, 2008.

Billie Maxine Hamacher

Died Aug. 4, 2017

OSAGE CITY — Billie Maxine Hamacher, Osage City, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2017. She was 85.

She was cremated. Private inurnment was in Osage City Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Grace Chapel Church, Carbondale.

Stephanie Y. Ziegler

April 28, 1971 – Aug. 10, 2017

OVERBROOK — Stephanie Y. Ziegler, 46, Overbrook, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017. She was 46.

She was born April 28, 1971, at Topeka, the daughter of James Foote and Elaine Gustin Nichols. She grew up in the Topeka/Carbondale area, graduating from Highland Park High School with the class of 1990. She took many classes from Allen County Community College and Washburn University working towards a degree in education.

Raymond Clarence Heidebrecht

Oct. 5, 1943 – Aug. 7, 2017

OVERLAND PARK — Raymond Clarence Heidebrecht died Aug. 7, 2017, at Overland Park. He was 73.

He was born Oct. 5, 1943, at Newton. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ida; a son, George; a sister, Arlene; and a brother, Jim.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan; a son, James; two grandchildren, Kate and Alex; and many nieces and nephews. “Wildman” will be missed by his family, his community family in Melvern, and by his many friends including his best buddy, Sam.

Ross Gray

March 21, 1926 – Aug. 7, 2017

WINFIELD — Ross Gray, Topeka, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at the Veteran’s Home, Winfield. He was 91.

He was born March 21, 1926, at Lyndon, the son of Wayne and Ruth Rankin Gray. He grew up in Lyndon where he graduated from Lyndon High School in 1943. He lived in Hiawatha for a time before moving to Topeka.
