Calendar of Halloween events in Osage County

OSAGE COUNTY—Walking through the woods or entering a barn may not be frightful any other time of year, but not at Halloween time. Attractions throughout the county continue this weekend and will offer scares for all ages.

Start the Halloween festivities off by visiting the Trunk or Treat event 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Resource Center for Independent Living, 1137 Laing, Osage City.

The Forbidden Farm, an annual haunted barn in Osage City, is open 7-11 p.m. Oct. 28-29. Wileys Weenie Wagon, hot dog vender, will offer concessions Oct. 29.

Another Trunk or Treat event is 4:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 at Scranton City Park. A ribbon cutting will open the festivities at 4:30 p.m. for the new city park playground equipment. Trunk or treat 5 to 8 p.m. at the city park. Enjoy hot dogs, piñata bashing and more. The event is free and open to the public. Bring your car trunk and participate in the celebration.

Melvern will host their annual haunted trails Oct. 29. The event begins with a costume parade at 4 p.m. for ages preschool to fifth grade followed by a hayride for children in costume. A soup, ham and bean supper will be served 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Melvern Community Center. Haunted trail and hayrack rides will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m., leaving from the community center. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the trail.

Lyndon will host Trunk or Treat 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Jones Park Oct. 30.

The Kiwanis Osage City Halloween parade will be 4 p.m. Oct. 31. Children will meet at Santa Fe Park.

Trunk or treat 4:30 p.m. at Community Covenant Church parking lot, Osage City. Free hot dog, chips, drink and treats in the trunks.

Overbrook Trunk or Treat will be held 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at Overbrook Fairgrounds. Other events include a campfire, S’mores, chili, cinnamon rolls, fresh pressed apple cider, games, activities and crafts.

Burlingame Rec will host a Trick or Trunk 6 p.m. Oct. 31 at Burlingame High School parking lot.

Lyndon FBLA is sponsoring Halloween Town 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Lyndon Elementary School gymnasium. Children can enjoy a night of fun, games and candy. Free admission.

Carbondale Trunk or Treat will be 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
